Elliott made over 600 appearances in sixteen years as a professional footballer. A career of that length is not built on ability alone. It is built on consistency: the discipline to prepare properly every week, to hold focus through long seasons, and to treat the hundredth game with the same seriousness as the first. Those habits do not switch off when the playing stops. They become who you are.
He now builds houses in Shropshire, where he grew up, and the same professionalism runs through every project. Elliott is on site most days, not out of obligation but because this is where his attention naturally goes. The detail matters to him: how a junction is formed, how a stair meets a landing, how light moves through a room at different hours of the day. Work is checked before it is covered, and questions are settled on site rather than left for later.
That care is matched by patience. The same small team stays with a build from the first dig to the last door handle, so nothing is lost between trades and the standard at the end is the standard it began with. A bespoke home takes the better part of two years, and consistency over that distance is a rarer thing in building than most people realise. It is the part of his old profession Elliott never left behind.
